About Dr. Allen R. Smith
Dr. Allen Smith is a 2002 graduate of the Michigan College of Optometry. His internships included Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson, Grand Rapids Health Care Center, and University Eye Center at the Michigan College of Optometry. After completing his education he joined the US Navy and quickly received recognition for his clinical skills and exceptional patient care, earning the prestigious Commendation Medal. Dr. Smith joined Lifetime Eyecare in 2005.
In addition to being a member of the American Optometric Association and Michigan Optometric Association, Dr. Smith is a former President of the West Michigan Optometric Association and a former Board Trustee of the Michigan Optometric Association. He was also awarded the “Key Person” award for his involvement in the community at large.
Dr. Smith is committed to maintaining the ocular (or eye) health of patients of all ages. He specializes in dry eye therapies, including LipiFlow® , skin treatments, including glaucoma, and specialty bifocal contact lens fittings. He has passion for his work and a love for his patients that is hard to match.
About Dr. Jennifer Kleyn
Dr. Jennifer Kleyn grew up in St. Johns, Michigan, and is a proud graduate of St. Johns High School. She attended Ferris State University for her undergraduate education while serving as a member of the Ferris State Women’s Cross Country and Track teams. She then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Vision Science and a doctorate degree from the Michigan College of Optometry.
Dr. Kleyn continued her training at the Northern Indiana VA Healthcare System in Fort Wayne, Indiana as well as Henry Ford OptimEyes in West Bloomfield, MI and Pleasant Optics in Mount Pleasant, MI. Dr. Kleyn’s training includes the treatment and management of ocular disease and fitting contact lenses with special interests in low vision and specialty contact lenses. She practices full-scope optometry. Dr. Kleyn is board certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is a current member of the American Optometric Association and Michigan Optometric Association.
Dr. Kleyn enjoys running, baking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to northern Michigan. She also enjoys raising awareness for ocular health and supporting patients with visual impairments. She is excited to join the team at Lifetime Eyecare and looks forward to being part of such an established and growing optometric practice.
