About Dr. Allen R. Smith
Dr. Allen Smith is a 2002 graduate of the Michigan College of Optometry. His internships included Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson, Grand Rapids Health Care Center, and University Eye Center at the Michigan College of Optometry. After completing his education he joined the US Navy and quickly received recognition for his clinical skills and exceptional patient care, earning the prestigious Commendation Medal. Dr. Smith joined Lifetime Eyecare in 2005.
In addition to being a member of the American Optometric Association and Michigan Optometric Association, Dr. Smith is a former President of the West Michigan Optometric Association and a former Board Trustee of the Michigan Optometric Association. He was also awarded the “Key Person” award for his involvement in the community at large.
Dr. Smith is committed to maintaining the ocular (or eye) health of patients of all ages. He specializes in dry eye therapies, including LipiFlow® , skin treatments, including glaucoma, and specialty bifocal contact lens fittings. He has passion for his work and a love for his patients that is hard to match.
